Baby Born Free
This baby was born free of the effects of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
Not all babies are so lucky.

Alcohol does more damage to the developing baby than any other substance.

Alcohol use during pregnancy can result in serious consequences:
brain damage, birth defects, premature birth, miscarriage, and death.

More babies are born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders than with Autism.

Most children with FASD have normal intelligence and normal appearance.
All will have structural or functional brain damage
They might have learning disabilities and behavior problems.

Without appropriate intervention services, serious problems can occur.
They may struggle with school, or have difficulty making friends.
They are at high risk of substance abuse, and trouble with the law.
Most will have some kind of mental health issues.
Half of all women who might become pregnant are drinking alcohol.
Half of all pregnancies are unplanned.

"If you are pregnant, don't drink.
If you drink, don't get pregnant."
